Nevada Division of Insurance Seeking Public Comment on Essential Health Benefit Changes

The Nevada Division of Insurance (NVDOI) is seeking public input on revisions to Nevada’s essential health benefits (EHB) plan.

Nevada’s EHB plan is the benchmark set of health care services that is required for all individual and small group health insurance plans.

The current EHB plan is Health Plan of Nevada’s HPN Solutions HMO Platinum small group plan.

However, Nevada is considering updating the EHB plan to reflect legislatively mandated changes in the insurance market. States making changes are required to have an actuarial analysis of the benefits and public comment on the possible changes before applying to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for approval.

The changes NVDOI seeks input on are:

  • Add all FDA-approved drugs to treat opioid use disorder.
  • Add all FDA-approved drugs for testing, treating and preventing human immunodeficiency virus.
  • Add all FDA-approved drugs for testing, treating and preventing hepatitis B and C.

You can submit public comment through the NVDOI’s website at this link.

You can write to the Commissioner of Insurance at 1818 E. College Parkway, Suite 103, Carson City, NV 89706.

You can also fax your comment to (775) 687-0788 or email Glenn Shippey at gshippey@doi.nv.gov

The deadline to submit public comments is April 12 at 5 p.m.
