CaliforniaChoice Launches MyCalChoice Website for Employers

ORANGE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–CHOICE Administrators, the parent organization of California’s first small business private health insurance exchange, has launched a new website that provides business owners and human resources (HR) managers with direct access to CaliforniaChoice’s small group health plan options. CaliforniaChoice provides businesses with 1-100 employees health insurance options from up to eight different carriers. At MyCalChoice.com, employers and HR staff can identify and contact a CaliforniaChoice broker in their area who can provide a quote and help their businesses compare CaliforniaChoice plans.

Other features at the all-new MyCalChoice.com site include:

  • Geo targeting for local broker lookup
  • Instant access to brokers to receive a no obligation health insurance quote
  • Videos, blog content, and email newsletter sign-up to receive information about CaliforniaChoice, the private exchange serving small business since 1996

“MyCalChoice.com gives employers and human resources professionals unprecedented access to our brokers who cover the entire state of California. We look forward to this program helping to continue to make access to great health insurance coverage even more of a reality for small businesses in the state,” says Kevin Timone, chief sales officer at CaliforniaChoice. “Our new website also includes a wide range of featured content to help educate companies concerning the fluctuating health insurance and employee benefits industry. Our belief is the more we can empower new members with good information, the better equipped they are to make an informed health insurance purchasing decision for their group. We’ve made sure the information that groups need is easily accessible.”

The MyCalChoice.com launch timing aligns well with the latest online user behavior data that shows more and more businesses and consumers are heading online to research health insurance coverage options. A recent Forrester research study showed that 60% of consumers visited an online resource during their path to purchasing health insurance. This was the highest percentage reported since the survey began in July 2012. An Accenture management consulting report estimated in that six million U.S. employees and their dependents enrolled in health plans through private insurance exchanges for 2015 employer benefits, which doubled the number from 2014. That report projected that by 2018 an estimated 40 million people will be a part of a private exchange.

“While private exchanges are new for some, it’s something we have been doing for more than 20 years,” says Ron Goldstein, president and CEO of CHOICE Administrators. “That longevity and experience have allowed us to create a multi-faceted product that gives our members access to a variety of HMO, PPO, and HSA plans from some of California’s top health carriers. We are excited to bring MyCalChoice.com to the California employer market and for the opportunity to introduce CaliforniaChoice brokers to a growing segment of small business owners and health insurance decision makers who are looking for ways to solidify their benefits and health insurance programs.”

Since it began, CaliforniaChoice has been offered exclusively through independent health insurance brokers. It is a recognized private exchange leader in the health insurance industry. In addition to health insurance coverage from Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Health Net, Kaiser Permanente, Sharp Health Plan, Sutter Health Plus, UnitedHealthcare, and Western Health Advantage, the CaliforniaChoice private exchange offers discount dental, vision, and hearing services as well as no-cost HR support, Flexible Spending Accounts, COBRA billing, a Premium Only Plan, a Health Savings Account Resource Center, prescription drug discounts through the California Rx Card, and access to the Cal Perks employee discount program, which gives members discounts on movie tickets, theme parks, hotels, and more.

CaliforniaChoice currently serves nearly 17,000 employers and more than 300,000 employee and dependent members. It is a division ofCHOICE Administrators, the nation’s leading developer and administrator of consumer-choice insurance exchange models.
