Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health is rolling out new medical devices co-designed with Epic that connect directly to the EHR, a move the health system says will make it easier for patients to manage chronic conditions at home.
The proprietary blood pressure cuff, scale and glucometer automatically transmit data to Epic’s MyChart app and into a patient’s health record, without requiring separate device apps, according to a Sept. 22 news release. Clinicians can then review the information in real time to track changes between visits, adjust treatments remotely and provide additional support.
The tools are part of Sutter Sync, the health system’s digital care program that launched in spring 2025 for patients with high blood pressure. The program now supports more than 3,000 people, with expansions planned for Medicare patients with high cholesterol this fall and Type 2 diabetes patients in early 2026. A pregnancy pilot will also begin with a smaller group of patients and providers.
