GoodRx Launches Subscription Program For Low-Cost Generic Medications, Telehealth Services

GoodRx announced Wednesday the launch of GoodRx Companion, a subscription program that offers access to virtual healthcare services and prescription medications at discounted prices.

Through the $14.99 monthly GoodRx Companion subscription, users can access free and low-cost generic medications, online care visits and additional healthcare services. The company says the new subscription advances its strategy by adding broader offerings alongside its weight loss, erectile dysfunction and hair loss programs.

More than 200 generic medications are free through the telehealth platform, with “hundreds more” for less than $10 across pharmacies nationwide, according to the company. Telehealth visits are $19 through GoodRx Companion to address common health conditions, such as influenza, urinary tract infections (UTIs) and more.

Members are also eligible to save on dental care, vision care and common lab and imaging services.

The subscription service is “particularly beneficial” for patients managing chronic conditions, taking multiple medications and those with limited health insurance benefits, according to the company.

GoodRx President and CEO Wendy Barnes said in a statement that consumers are looking for “trusted solutions that give them greater control and clearer value” amid rising healthcare costs.

“Companion meets that demand while advancing our strategy to build deeper, more recurring consumer relationships across a growing portfolio of subscription offerings,” Barnes said. “This is where we believe the market is headed, and where we believe GoodRx is uniquely positioned to lead.”

The company says it has nearly 25 million users annually and has helped save more than $100 billion on medication costs since 2011.

GoodRx has been focused on GLP-1 drugs in recent months as demand continues to rise, adding the higher dose Wegovy injection and Eli Lilly’s oral drug Foundayo to its platform.

It also launched its Employer Direct program in February, which allows employers to offer employees lower costs on branded products.
