The Word & Brown Companies Donate $50,000 to Help Educate Americans on the Important Role of Health Insurance Brokers

The Word & Brown Companies have donated $50,000 to the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) Political Action Committee (HUPAC) to help educate Americans on the important role of health insurance brokers.

“It’s vital we increase awareness of the important role of health insurance brokers for consumers and businesses in America,” said Jessica Word, president of the Word & Brown General Agency and a National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) member. “Like all general agents, third party administrators, and health plans, Word & Brown and its sister company, CHOICE Administrators, owe our existence and livelihood to health insurance brokers. Consumers and business owners look to brokers for impartial advice and informed sales support and servicing. We are doubling our contribution to HUPAC in 2021 because NAHU is our champion in Washington, DC, in advocating for our industry, especially as a new administration and Congress consider legislation for the year.”

HUPAC raises funds to support candidates who believe in private sector solutions for the health and financial security of Americans. NAHU and its members believe it is important to remind lawmakers about the essential role of insurance brokers. These professionals are working every day to help Americans make educated decisions about health care, one of the most important decisions a mother or father can make for a family, or an employer can extend to its employees.

“Word & Brown General Agency and CHOICE Administrators have been involved with NAHU for more than 30 years,” noted Janet Trautwein, executive vice president and chief executive officer of NAHU. “We’re grateful to have them as a proud supporter and benefactor. It is though generous donations like these that NAHU is able to continue to act on behalf of consumers, our member brokers, and our insurance partners.”

Since 1929, NAHU has advocated for its members and their individual and business clients. With increasing challenges facing the health insurance industry, including rising health care costs, the roles of NAHU and its political action committee have become more important. It is essential that brokers, general agents, administrators, and health plans collectively support NAHU and HUPAC, as they work to ensure all Americans have access to high quality, affordable health care and related services.
