CaliforniaChoice Adds Two New Plans For Small Businesses

CHOICE Administrators announced today the addition of two popular Western Health Advantage health plans to its coverage options for Northern California groups enrolling in CaliforniaChoice. The private health exchange, which marked its 20th anniversary earlier this year, is now quoting GOLD HMO C (Gateway 4010) and GOLD HMO D (Gateway 200 HSA) for groups of two to 100 employees for coverage effective December 1, 2016.

“Western Health Advantage has been a health plan partner with us in Northern California since 2003,” said Ron Goldstein, president and CEO of CHOICE Administrators. “The addition of these new plans will be especially attractive to small businesses who want Western Health Advantage as an option, but also looking to provide access to additional health insurance options including Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Kaiser Permanente, Sharp Health Plan, Sutter Health Plus, UnitedHealthcare and Western Health Advantage.”

Brokers now have two new reasons to reach out to clients who may want to consider Western Health Advantage GOLD HMO C or the equally affordable GOLD HMO D. Both offer preventive care services at no cost, which includes an annual physical exam, well-baby care visits, immunizations, and other services.

A high deductible health plan, the GOLD HMO D gives employees a better way to manage their health care expenses by contributing, tax free, to a Health Saving Account (HAS) to pay for qualified medical expenses. After meeting the plan’s annual deductible of $2,000 to $4,000 depending on the selected coverage, members have no added costs for primary care physician and specialist office visits, outpatient services, hospitalization, urgent and emergency services, or prescription coverage.

The GOLD HMO C lets members control how much they spend on health care by paying only for the services they need. It offers $40 office visit copays for a primary care physician and specialist, no co-pay on select outpatient services, and a low $10 co-pay on generic prescription drugs. Low or no co-pays are available on select other services, with slightly higher co-pays on outpatient surgery and urgent and emergency services.

Since it began in 1996, CaliforniaChoice has been offered exclusively through health insurance brokers and is a recognized leader in the health insurance industry, having introduced Defined Contribution and Employee Choice. In addition to Western Health Advantage, the CaliforniaChoice private exchange offers group health coverage from Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Health Net, Kaiser Permanente, Sharp Health Plan, Sutter Health Plus, and UnitedHealthcare.

CaliforniaChoice currently serves more than 17,500 employers and nearly 325,000 employee and dependent members. It is a division of CHOICE Administrators, the nation’s leading developer and administrator of consumer-choice insurance exchange models.
